Phoenix sylvestris is a tree growing to 15 m at a slow rate. It is hardy to zone (UK). The species are hermaphrodite (has both male and female organs). Plants require light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils. Soil pH is acid, neutral and basic (alkaline). 

It can grow in semi-shade to full sun. It prefers moist soil. Flowers are white blooms in early summer, early spring, late summer, late spring, mid-summer, mid-spring. Palm is upright or erect. Fruit a very inferior character. it can be concentrated into a syrup or fermented into alcohol. One of the main sources of sugar in Bengal. 

Juice is very effective in relieving from a toothache. The powder is very effective in strengthening the nervous system. This medicine in powder form is useful in the treatment of weight loss, emaciation tiredness, respiratory and digestive disorders.
